Project Descriptions:

GAS-TURBINE ENGINE RESEARCH
The performance and fuel efficiency of modern gas turbine engines has a significant impact on environmental and noise concerns related to civil and military air transport. A new laboratory has been developed at Notre Dame for investigating new technologies that will positively impact how engines are designed and operate. The goals are to improve the efficiency of the rotating components through active control of the gas flow. The RET project will involve working with large scale turbomachinery facilities to acquire measurements that will determine the feasibility of the new technologies.
