Research
Experience for Teachers at the University of Notre Dame
(RET@ND) is a program of summer research projects
for high school teachers of the Michiana region. The projects
will be directed by faculty members from several academic departments
in the Colleges of Engineering and Science at Notre Dame.
Participating teachers will be encouraged to create new curricular
modules for use in their classrooms.
The
projects cover a wide choice of mathematical, scientific,
and technological topics. The projects vary in duration
from 4 to 8 weeks. The stipends for participating
teachers range from $1,500 to $6,000. Participating teachers may also receive college credit for their work.
The
Kaneb Center for Teaching & Learning at Notre
Dame is the organizational and facilitating point of
entry to RET@ND. It will organize weekly
presentations on both scientific and teaching related
topics. The Center will organize opportunities for teachers
from all disciplines to meet each other socially so that
they can discuss their research, curricular and pedagogical
matters, as well as the set of issues that they face
in their high schools. The participating high school
teachers will form a network of mathematics, science
and technology teachers from the region in partnership with
Notre Dame.
